The Cycle for Life is a challenge for all ages to cycle the 107km route from Clevedon to Clevedon (via Hunua / Mangatawhiri / Kaiaua / Orere Pt / Kawakawa Bay). This event is well organised with all major corners and intersections manned by marshals and safety vehicles, with trained first aid people aboard following the ride. Drink stations will be situated along the route.

Starting and finishing venue is Clevedon A&P Showgrounds.

107 km Route - Around the Hunua Ranges
The route will travel from the Clevedon A&P Showgrounds using Monument Rd through Hunua and down to the Old State Highway 2 and through Mangatawhiri, then to Kaiaua via Kaiaua Rd. From Kaiaua we follow the costal road through Orere Pt and on around Kawakawa Bay and back to the Clevedon Showgrounds via tourist Rd.

From the start the route continues along Monument Road and a steady climb to Skyhigh Rd where you go down to White Rd and on into the small settlement of Hunua, a mainly flat road goes through the Hunua valley with rolling pastoral hills on one side and the bush covered Hunua Ranges opposite. This is the main water catchment area for greater Auckland with many dams in the hills. Continue along into Happy Valley and come out on to old State Highway 2 at Mangatawhiri. Soon after the route veers off to the left towards Mangatangi and through rolling farm land before descending down to the coast where a good view can be had of the Firth of Thames and the distant Coromandel ranges.

At Kaiaua is the change over point for the Relay riders. This is the ½ way point.  Toilet facilities are near by at the boat ramp car park.  The ride now follows the coast for about 20kms, large mussel farms can be seen in the distance. After a climb and drop down to the Orere Point turn off, you go left. There is a Drink station here, should you need it, before another climb through picturesque bush before a fast down hill run into Kawakawa Bay, after skirting the bay it is inland through gently rolling country to the finish back at the Showgrounds.  This is a wonderfully scenic route in an anticlockwise direction making for mainly all left turns and avoiding surburban built up areas; the course is well signed with pink arrows and marshals on most corners.

The majority of corners on this course are Left turns, Food and Drink will be available back at the finish area at the Clevedon Showgrounds.
Prize giving will be at approx 1.30-2.00pm depending on the number of slower riders still returning.

Relay options are available for those wanting a shorter course, teams of 2 each riding 50% of the course.

Registration will open at 6.45am - Start time 8.30 am sharp - Pre Ride briefing at 8.20am
